Omaha Hi

Omaha Hi

If Texas Hold’em poker is the most popular poker game online, then Omaha is a close second. In Omaha, you get dealt 4 starting cards to make a hand – although you can and must only use 2 hole cards and the best five cards win. This feature makes for an exciting and action-packed game where the flops can promise staggering amounts of draws.

Omaha Hi-Lo

Omaha Hi-Lo

Omaha Hi-Lo is a draw heavy version of Omaha Hi where you can win pots with 2 made hands – a high hand and a low hand. Each winner will receive 50% of the pot at showdown. With two chances to win, players can go for a scoop where they win both the high and the low ends of the pot, holding the best 5-card hands.

Learn How to Play Other Poker Variations

Poker isn’t all Texas Hold’em and Omaha. There are many other variations that you can learn to play.

At 888poker, we have easy-to-follow articles and guides to help along the way!

Check out our step-by-step poker guides for these less popular, but equally enticing, poker games:

5 Card Draw

Five Card (5 Card) Draw is a draw variant of poker. Players will hold and discard cards, replacing them with cards in the deck.

HORSE

HORSE is an acronym that includes 5 different poker variants. They are: Hold’em, Omaha Hi/Lo, Razz (Stud Lo), Stud (Stud Hi), and Eight-or-Better (Stud Hi/Lo).

Razz

Razz is a form of Stud Poker. In the ranking system for this game, straights and flushes do not count against a low hand.

2-7 Triple Draw

In 2-7 Triple Draw, players receive their own individual 5-card hand. And they have not one, but three draw attempts to make the best “low” hand.

5-Card Omaha

In 5-Card Omaha, instead of being dealt four hole cards, each player receives five. They can only use two of the four to make the best hand.

Badugi

This poker variant falls under the “draw” and “Lowball” poker families. But Badugi uses a unique hand ranking system to determine the best hand.

Chinese Poker

In Chinese poker, players each receive13 initial cards. They must divide these cards into three different poker hands, attempting to make the best/highest-ranked holdings.

Short Deck

In Short Deck poker, all deuces, threes, fours, and fives are removed from the deck – leaving 36 cards. This difference can result in a more action-packed game.
